Why write for Critical Publishing?
Critical Publishing is an independent, professional publishing company run by an experienced and creative team. Our aim is to provide materials to help students, teachers, and trainers become the best professionals they can be.
We support and help build resilience through a more critical approach that encourages our readers to analyse, evaluate, question and challenge. Our books contain ideas, approaches and skills that are actionable and effective.
We aim to publish books which aim to fit the following criteria:
- the content is academically sound and reflects best practice
- the writing is accessible, practical and reader-friendly
- the final product is innovative and creative
- we want your experience and ours to be both professional and fun!
We offer a professional, ethical, friendly and supportive approach
Publishing with Critical Publishing means working with committed and knowledgeable publishing professionals and we place particular emphasis on being able to offer a personal service to our authors. At Critical Publishing our authors are always involved in the process of publishing and our size means we don’t have numerous committee meetings in order to reach a decision. We pride ourselves on responding quickly to proposals and sample material and you will have a definite answer within 2-3 weeks.
We work with you to develop excellent publication
Every book receives individual attention. Using our product development skills and experience of education and health & social care, we will work with you to develop your proposal and sample material, We will also support and advise you during the writing and production stages to ensure your book is the best it can possibly be.
We produce high quality publications quickly
We take great care in the design of our books. Our covers look modern and interesting. Within each book, the text design is also given careful attention to ensure we present your content in the most visually effective way. Our usual production schedule is 14 weeks (from receiving your finished script to printed books) so we can ensure your book is available as quickly as possible.
We work with you to make the book a success
Nowadays it’s not always enough to have written a great book. To cut through the noise we need to work closely with our authors to harness their enthusiasm and knowledge so we will discuss the marketing plan for your book with you to ensure we are promoting it effectively. In addition to the traditional forms of marketing — advertising, conference attendance, direct mail catalogues — we are constantly exploring new opportunities offered by email and social media. We can ensure that your book is catalogued in all the right places and formats so that it can be readily found by any reader. As the author you are best placed to promote to your network of contacts who know your work already and are likely to listen to what you have to say.
