AND THE WINNER IS!!!
We were honoured to receive the Nick Robinson Newcomer Award at the IPG Independent Publishing Awards 2014! Many thanks to the IPG and all our friends in the business who supported us through our start-up phase
....and we're here to help people in education, health and social work become the best students and professionals they can be.
Having both worked in publishing for many years, we (Di and Julia) founded Critical Publishing in 2012. We met up in the cafe of the British Library, ordered coffee and cake, and hatched a plan. We felt we could produce learning resources for education and social work students and professionals that were fresher and better than what was already around.
We believe we do this by offering a more critical approach (in all the best senses) that helps our readers think and encourages them to analyse, evaluate, question and challenge. But without making it too difficult or daunting.
So our readers achieve better skills, increased awareness and greater success in their chosen professional paths.
We’ve now published over 100 titles in print and digital format, and readers love them. We also have exciting plans for our future offerings ...

I have worked in professional and higher education publishing for the last 30 years including a range of roles at Pearson, Thomson Reuters and the ICAEW, during which time I have created many successful products, both hard copy and electronic. Prior to setting up Critical Publishing, I worked for Learning Matters where I launched and built a market-leading social work list and developed other series within the health & social care HE market
